HOW TENDING TO MY 86 YEAR OLD FATHER OPENED MY EYES TO A GROWING NEED FOR A HOME CARE FOR SENIOR CITIZENS AND PERSONS IN NEED.
I went for five days leave sometime in March 2020 to visit my aged parents but I ended up spending close to 5 months due to the COVID-19 lockdown in the country.
During the said period, I had no choice but to fully concentrate on becoming a Caregiver to my 86 year old dad (suffering from dementia or loss of memory) which became an eye-opening experience.
After the care and attention at the end of the Lockdown period, my father that had earlier looked dull sad and disconnected from the rest of the world was now bright, happy, active and looking much like a new man. These experiences made me realize that many older adults and person in need die needlessly due to total lack of Home Care from family members, who are either, too busy or lack caregiving skills.
I have realized from my personal research and stories from my mother that CARE makes all the difference in the quality of life of our loved ones.
After my caregiver experience, I decided to contribute and make a difference in the Health Care of older adults in the society, which is much overlooked and neglected.The experience now gave birth to the Palmcare Home Services Limited, where at the comfort of their homes, older adults will be taken care of by specialists at an affordable cost to their beneficiaries.
The vision is to make sure that Senior Citizen and persons in need get adequate HOME CARE SERVICES, such as doctors’ assessment, personal care by caregivers, companionship, home help, physiotherapist and a nutritionist when needed. All older adults and persons in need deserve “Better Health, and good quality of life” the Palmcare way.
